Hotel Odeon

Odense, Denmark Designed by Barbara Bendix Becker

NEW NORDIC AMBIANCE

Fritz Hansen’s well-known design language was crucial to the project, and has exactly the expression we were aiming for. It was important to us that in 10 years the hotel still feels modern and relevant – and arouses the curiosity of the guests. Arne Jacobsen’s organic forms add poetry to the building, and colours and materials have been a key element in the entire project. From the coarse woven fabrics and slightly transparent curtains, to the light wood and stone. The soft beige and grey tones match the light we have in the Nordic countries, where you will see that grey tones change character and depth into violet or warm beige. Together, the various elements encapsulate the identity of the hotel.

The aim was to create the perfect fusion of global and local. The standard is international, and the decor is Scandinavian. Hotel Odeon embraces the Nordic aesthetic, with a colour palette in soft tones, interest in craftmanship and elegant Danish furniture design.

‘The perception of luxury has changed from large crystal chandeliers to curated running routes in local areas, dining at community tables, present staff and personal decor,” says Architect Pernille Arlien Søborg Henriksen, Owner of Co.designstudio.

Much attention was given to materials and colours at Hotel Odeon. The tactile theme of the ground floor is reflected in every room, giving guests a holistic hospitality experience. Suites are modelled and styled with a sensitivity for shape and material. Series 7™ and Grand Prix™ chairs from Fritz Hansen create a sculptural space and reflect the Nordic concept.
